When Cloudmark came to us, hoping to explain their new service, I had never heard of Spear Phishing. Sure, I’d heard of phishing attacks or attempts, emails from “friends” who suddenly need money wired to cover emergency travel expenses, or someone trying to get ill-gotten gains out of Nigeria and just need your account information.
But Spear Phishing? This is fraud on a whole different level. Con artists are getting millions or billions out of a couple of emails to the right executive. You’re a CFO, and your CEO is at a conference. You get an email from her (sure looks legit), saying you need to wire 12 million dollars for a deal that’s going through.
One of the cool things about motion graphics is we get to dip our toes into different people’s fields and learn about them. And this is one of our favorite kinds of projects. We got to explain something the viewer might not know anything about, and present a giant and compelling problem that this product solves.
